The Government of Ontario undertook changes to their services in 2017 and decided to pivot from an existing program they supported to a new type of service.  As part of this transition a website, which they funded through the program, needed to be rebranded and the information presented to the public in a new, modern, and exciting manner.  Additional requirements included the fact the new website had to be available in multiple languages, be available on any type of device, and be easy for an administrator to manage and update the content.


The current website had an existing brand but it was beginning to show its age.  The client didn’t want to completely transition to a new brand, but wanted the brand to be updated to modern standards.  We worked closely with the client to revision the logo, transition it to a vector form, and come up with a new and existing name for the website. As part of the overall branding we also worked with the client to develop a new brand style guide that reflected the new look they wanted to promote with the new website launch.

Once the brand and style guide were established the project moved onto the website development phase.  For this the client required a Content Management System that was powerful enough to meet their technical needs but easy enough for the team to update and add content on a daily basis.  For this process we reviewed several Content Management Systems with the client – eventually settling on the one that best fit their requirements.

Over the next few months we worked iteratively with the client on developing the new website.  This included the development of several designs followed by feedback and revisions.  Once the final design was selected we built a prototype of the new website using a rich interactive design prototyping tool.  This allowed the client to see exactly how the new website would look and function before any programming work was started.

Once the prototype of the website was complete, the client approved design and screens were built out in the Content Management System.  Finally, once the website was built, the content from the existing website was ported over and the new website was launched. In November 2017 the website won the Best Overall Website at the eHealth Leadership Awards!
